Envelope Stuffing Work From Home

Envelope stuffing work from home where YOU are in charge and making a profit is virtually impossible to come by.

Yet there IS a way to make stuffing envelopes work for you - just not in the way you might think!

Why envelope stuffing work from home tends to be ONE...BIG...SCAM

Once upon a time, companies really DID employ people to work from home, filling envelopes with leaflets and brochures. However, modern machinery has automated this work to such an extent that outsourcing it to individuals to do at home is not cost effective.

BUT...

Unscrupulous scammers know that the type of people who search for envelope stuffing work from home tend to be those who are unable to work outside the home (moms with small children, for example). So they invent envelope stuffing opportunities and advertise them via the internet, newspaper ads etc, with outrageous promises as to the amount of money workers can expect to receive.

These ads, of course, are very tempting to work at home moms like us... and, unfortunately, common sense tends to go out the window.

The sad truth is that these wonderful "envelope stuffing work from home" opportunities involve you sending a fee in order to receive your starter pack. When you get your pack, you'll realize that it simply contains information to help you encourage OTHER workers to buy 'start up' packs for the non existent work from home opportunities. YOU won't get paid until you con OTHERS into falling for the same scam YOU signed up for.

And that, I'm sure, is something you really don't want to involve yourself with.

In fact, the FTC is actively prosecuting people who perpetrate this type of fraudulent activity.

Envelope stuffing work from home that can REALLY earn you money!

If you are looking for this type of work because it's easy and requires no thought on your part, then the following idea may not be suitable for you.

If, however, you're willing to put in a little effort, then you can set yourself up as a direct mailing 'business'.

What does a direct mail business offer to its customers?

In short, you take care of all of your customer direct mail needs. That means buying paper, envelopes and any other stationery required, managing their client list, sending out their materials as and when requested... and meeting any other mailing needs they may have.

How to set yourself up as a direct mail business

The only barrier to running a successful direct mail business as a WAHM can be the lack of physical space from which to run your operation!

Bear in mind - you not only need to HAVE the space to deal with large quantities of mail and the associated stationery, it also needs to be an area that's protected from your children (you don't want to find that your little angels have been using your clients' latest newsletters to make paper airplanes, for example).

If you do have a suitable area to use, then you need to equip yourself with a desk (I even have a page about how to Build a Desk if you're trying to be frugal!), plus the basic office essentials of computer, printer and fax.

You'll then need to purchase the items that will help you work efficiently. These include an automatic letter folder/sealer, mail sorter, mail merging software and postage meter. The Mail Product Store is a good resource for this type of specialized equipment.

Don't forget to check out the legal requirements for your business within your state and obtain the necessary permits and licenses.

Finding customers

In order for your 'envelope stuffing work from home' venture to pay off, you'll need customers! Here are a few suggestions for getting your business off the ground...
  • Send out a press release announcing your presence via any media outlets you can (internet, local radio, local newspaper... even local TV if it's within your budget!).
  • Contact businesses directly - preferably face to face - and offer your services.
  • Send out flyers and brochures. Make sure these promotional materials look as professional as possible.
  • Ensure you have a set of business cards to hand out to anyone and everyone you meet!

If you know of any LEGITIMATE envelope stuffing work from home positions and would like to challenge my claim that this type of work no longer exists, then please do contact me. I'd also love to hear from you if you've established your own direct mail service and have any tips you'd like to share.
