Depending on what you do for your work, your specific needs within the home office will vary. But it's important that - no matter what type of job you are doing - that you have an area designated for it. Even if it's a small table with a laptop that sits to the side of your sofa – you need to have your own home office area!

Ideally, it would be nice to have a full room dedicated to serving as your office. Some are lucky enough to have such a room, others have to make do with corners and designated areas. Some can work with a smaller area until they are able to build a room onto the home. In any case, your home office needs to be a place that will help you to work as efficiently and effectively as you possibly can.

Your designated area may need extra equipment depending on what you are doing. For example - if you have a website business, you can pretty much operate from a desk with a computer – or even just a very portable laptop. A mom who sews baby diapers, however, will need a table and a sewing machine, and places to store her supplies and materials. She will need a much bigger area - and will probably need to take extra care in baby-proofing it if she has smaller children.
