Using A Blogging Platform
To make a free website is one way of getting on the road to earning an income online. Doing this doesn't guarantee an income, of course, nor is it the "fast" fix that some believe!
But free is free... and if money is an issue with starting a work from home computer business, this can be a good place to start!
The quickest and easiest way to get a "website" up fast is to blog. Blog companies make it super easy to build free websites. There are several options out there for blogging, I'm going to discuss the top 2 blog platforms on here.
Make a Free Website with Blogspot or WordPress
Blogger or Blogspot is probably one of the oldest blog companies out there. It's also one of the easiest to use. Owned by Google, it is thought that a Blogspot blog will do better with Google than the others. This hasn't been proven, but it's certainly good food for thought!
Blogger allows you to completely customize your blog, or you can choose from one of their templates. Many are free and some are available for a fee. Customizing a blog yourself does require some knowledge of CSS and html. Alternatively, you can hire designers to customize it and upload it for you.
Blogs are easy enough to use and monetize. You can click to insert the "widgets" that contains Google Adsense. You are paid when people click the ads. But be forewarned. Google will yank your account if you click your own ads, so never do that!
WordPress is also a popular blog. WordPress has a free version and has it available in a couple of formats. You can obtain one through WordPress.com or you can pay for separate hosting and a domain and install the free WordPress.org platform. But if totally free is what you are after, then stick with WordPress.com.
Set up is easy - you pick a template, or have one customized. Log in to your account and start writing. There again you can monetize your pages with affiliate ads and Adsense. In my opinion, WordPress has the best website builder, as these sites look more like a website than a blog.
The key to success with a blog is to get a lot of traffic. Traffic will come easier if you rank high in the search engines. In order to rank high, you need to write quality pages, use good keyterms that are in high demand and get other blogs and sites to link to you.
Using Social Networking will help in this area. Twitter, Facebook, Digg, etc are excellent networks that help to spread the word about your new blog.
To make a free website you just need to log in to one of the two places mentioned above and sign up. In a matter of minutes you can have your blog started and be on the road to having one of the legitimate online jobs that may end up bringing in a decent income.
