Reward ChartA reward chart is a good way to visually encourage children to behave well. The idea is to keep up with good behavior and with chores, etc.An effective chart should be made on either a poster board, marker board or a chalk board. Keep it in a central location, where it can be quickly viewed and seen by both you and the children. Before you make it, write out on a piece of paper what you want it to have. For example, you can list the child's name, then list in columns to the side of it what all they are suppose to do for chores. Like "wash dishes", "take out trash", etc. List "good behavior", "plays well with siblings". Decide a symbol or a sticker for a merit and perhaps a black X for a demerit. For every chore that is fulfilled mark it appropriately, for every one not place the X there. At the end of the day or week or month (whichever you wish to be) add up the rewards. Rewards can be money or allowance. Or it can be a desired object or to go do something fun. Perhaps put a reward price on different things, like 10 points for an allowance of $5. Or 25 points for a trip to the movies. This is an excellent way to introduce strategies to save money. However you decide to make the reward chart, make it to be a fun way to have the kids to help with household chores and good behavior. Having it visible for all to see is incentive to keep it up.
