Write an EbookWhich topic? Put simply, write an ebook about a topic you're knowledgeable about - and PASSIONATE about. Your passion will come through in your writing! Perhaps you have some great techniques for getting baby to sleep. Perhaps you're a dab hand in the kitchen. Perhaps you know some fantastic DIY tips that other women might find useful. Any or all of these would be great topics for an ebook!
Tips to write an ebook that people will want to readMy most important tip (besides sticking to writing about a subject you KNOW and LOVE) is to remember who your audience is.You do NOT need to sound like an encyclopedia! If you're writing a book filled with handy tips for new moms, keep your tone friendly and informal, almost as if you're chatting to your reader in person. That being said, it IS important to check your spelling! Whether you like it or not, to write an ebook that's going to be taken seriously, you MUST make sure that all terms are spelled correctly. If spelling is not your forte, then use an online spellchecker - with modern technology, there's no excuse for bad spelling! Keep in mind while writing the ebook that your words will be mostly read from a computer screen. So don't make the type too small - and try to keep paragraphs short and to the point. Use bullet points and images where appropriate. This helps to break up the text too.
Where to write an ebookMost ebook authors tend to start out by typing their book in Word - this is also the method I use.But you will then want to convert your ebook into a PDF file, so that it's downloadable and easily read. There are several programs out there that will do this for you. If you don't want to pay big bucks for Adobe Acrobat - you can use a program like PDF995, which is a free download. This isn't the most secure mode of delivery and sites like Clickbank.com and eJunkie.com tend to be the most popular choices for most ebook authors. A simple online search for ebook creators will highlight all the different options available. Research this and come up with the best solution for you.Allow others to sell your ebook... ...offer them a nice big commission (50% or more). You could build up an army of affiliates that will sell your ebook and bring in a nice little residual income! Ebooks tend to do well if you can offer incentives with them. Either write an ebook that's a little smaller to accompany the main book (an e-report) on a related subject. Then offer it as a valuable free gift with every purchase. Or find someone to collaborate with and trade incentives - your e-report with their book and theirs with yours! Be sure to include links to your site and to your ebook within your free e-report. When you write an ebook, don't overlook the cover!Yes, people DO judge a book by its cover!So have a beautiful ebook cover designed to help your sales. If you are handy with a graphics editor program, then design it yourself - otherwise, have it professionally done. There's nothing like an amateurish-looking cover to kill your potential sales!
